Animal Reiki
The name Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) comes from the Japanese words “rei” meaning spirit and “ki” meaning energy. It is written with two Japanese kanji or characters, which mean “spiritual energy.”
What is Animal Reiki?
It’s a spiritual system of compassionate intention, which may bring about healing transformation. The Reiki practitioner is a conduit through which energy flows for the good of another. As a trained practitioner, I have had attunements to open up and increase the flow of healing energy through me. During a Reiki session, animals often experience a deep state of peace as the energy clears imbalances, allowing for new and harmonious patterns of health and wellness.
Physical contact is not required for Reiki, and often the practitioner initially offers Reiki to the animal hands off. This way, the animal controls the treatment, either accepting Reiki from a distance or settling themselves against the practitioner’s hands. Reiki is non-invasive and can do no harm. It always goes to the deepest source of the problem and supports a path toward balance and harmony. Universal or divine energy IS Reiki.

Why are so many animal lovers drawn to learn Reiki? It is because animals resonate at a higher vibration than humans, and they attract us into their lives so that we may learn and heal as they offer us their unconditional love. Reiki practice is a place of peace where we can share in the deep and true love that IS oneness.

How is Reiki Practiced?
Reiki is a channeled healing energy that flows from the practitioner’s hands by intent, and can be performed directly with the animal present or at a distance, even many miles or countries away. Because Reiki can flow in this fashion, it is ideal for some animals that do not wish for direct contact or hands-on treatment, but still want to benefit from the healing energy.

Julie and I have been friends for several years. One time she was over a few weeks after we'd had one of our chickens get attacked by a raccoon. The hen wasn't really getting any better, so Julie offered to do some reiki on her. I swear the next day the chicken's feathers started growing back and she was on her way to recovery!
